Changer tuning nut
I'm building a pedal steel and trying to make the Changer Tuning nuts but not going so well. I'm trying to thread 6-32 thread into the end of some 5/16" aluminum rod. No lathe. Is there a source to purchase these parts?
A fine instrument is like a lady. Treat it nice and it will make lovely music.

Not sure you are wanting to do that- most of the time if it is for tuning adjustment a 40 pitch thread is used. If you're trying to drill a centered hole a lathe is required. I suppose you could drill a .136" hole in one side of a 1/2" metal block and then from the other side drill a 5/16" hole half way through using the .136 hole as your guide- that would get you close
