How many Derby Steel Guitars we're built by Charlie Stepp? I have 380 something.Thanks.

I've forgotten the exact number. I think I have that info somewhere just can't put my hands on it.

It was just over 500 starting in 1989 for about 20 yrs. until his passing in 2009. Bobby Callaway finished up the remaining 4 or 5 under construction.

The 380s run date to....2005 or early 06.

Several Derby steels were played by steel players in bands with a lot of great artists in country music-a few examples are Robbie Flint, who played steel in Alan Jackson's band, the Strayhorns, Troy Klontz-former steel player with Brooks & Dunn, Gary Carter-former steel player with Faith Hill and Connie Smith, Monte Good-former steel player with John Michael Montgomery, Terry Crisp played a Derby with Reba in the nineties then played a Derby with Joe Nichols, and Tommy White played a blue Derby in the Grand Ole Opry staff band.
