cam lock or change lock for Mullen

Post by Dennis Bailey »

A friend with an older Mullen Universal and wants to put a locking mechanism on the lever that lowers the E strings. I have heard that Mullen no longer makes them. Does anyone know of a kit or mechanism that may work for this? Thanks

The de sta co company makes all kinds of clamps that will work as a lock for steel guitars. That is just the lock of course and you'd have to engineer some accompanying linkage, etc. to attach it to the guitar.

Here's one application on a Zum:

I bought it from Bruce Zumsteg, along with the mounting bracket and cross shaft lever.

Jerry,
Thanks for the tip on the Destaco!
Installed it yesterday on my friend's '93 Mullen.
It works well.
