Regal RC-51 Nickel Tricone $396 plus ride

Post by Kevin Swan »

This is a PLAYER resonator, as you will see from the pictures. I imagine a previous owner did some gigging with this and perhaps wasn't entirely conscientous about wiping it down after a sweaty gig? The body has a lot of pitting and other little imperfections that you can't see from ten feet away; not sure if any or all of it could be fixed somehow. The neck is in great shape, and the action is low enough to fret all the way up the neck but just high enough for bottleneck/slide/dobro style playing. Round neck and as you probably know if you've read this far also HEAVY at nearly eleven pounds. (You could take a break and strap on a Les Paul which would feel like a feather in comparison.) Much newer hardshell case is included and looks still brand new.

SAVE on shipping if you're within 50 miles of Zip Code 44286 I will deliver or meet you halfway.

That weight is partly why this resonator sounds so good; I had a "hog top" National that was absolutely beautiful but was so lacking in treble that it sounded almost muddy. This Regal rings out like a bell and gives that National tricone sound at a fraction of the cost. (And with that extra weight you could also do a wicked Keef Richards tomahawk stage control against anyone stupid enough to rush the stage!)

Busker's Delight!

Post by Kevin Swan »

This fine, shiny resonator would be perfect for busking. Just imagine your passers-by aren't paying attention. Tilt the body to catch the sunlight and they'll HAVE to stop and listen. And who knows? They may mistake a hundred dollar bill for a single after temporarily being blinded and drop THAT in your tip jar. Heck, it just might pay for itself in the long run.

Fun player, already pre-smudged, pre-scratched and still sounding great.

Lower Price!

Bumping this back up with a lower price, would love to get this to someone who actually plays. It’s ideal for live gigging or busking as it’s already got that “player patina!”
