Is anyone in touch with Mickey? Wondering how he is doing since his accident. Is he recovering?,,playing?,,active? He used to be such an active contributer to the forum,,,,such a talent.
Any update on his status would be appreciated.

Mickey is all over FaceBook.

He is still playing steel, but he has the lead guitar gig at the Orange Blossom Opry.

I don't think he is flying, but I could be wrong.

Several years ago he had a heart "episode" of some sort.

At that time, he told me he was no longer flying.

Of course, that may have changed.

What an incredible musician.

There are only two options as I see it.
Either I'm right, or there is a sinister conspiracy to conceal the fact that I'm right.

He called me a couple weeks ago... sounded good, happy to be playing with some great musicians with the Orange Blossom Opry.

Oh, thank you all my friends ..It has been quite some time since I posted here.
I am currently in TX on vacation from the Opry.
I wish I could tell you all that there hasn’t been any residual effects from
my concussion, but that’s not the case. My short term memory loss is pretty severe
so it’s not uncommon for me to have to learn things over and over.
I live in Salt Springs FL, and I am not involved in aviation at all.. I’ve flown twice in 6 years.. I miss the prestige, and the travel, but I am enjoying being grounded for the first time in 60 years..I play with Doug Stock, one of the worlds best steel guitarists, and Bobby Randall from Sawyer Brown.. We have a great thing going..
My Willie Nelson tribute show is coming up Aug 26th, and I’ve sold out in record time.. So god is blessing me still with being able to perform.
I miss so many of you..and my dear friend John Brabant… thank you for keeping up, and in touch..
Every now and then someone recognizes me from YouTube..and I get to relive my glory days, and see first hand that I made a difference in someone’s playing.. a true gift ..God bless you all here on the SGF.. :)

Mickey, you most certainly have made a difference in the lives of a lot of people and have left a lasting legacy that will continue to help many more.

You help people to learn, you bring entertainment, you show compassion to and respect for your fellow human beings.

If that could be said of all of us the world would be a better place.

Take care pal.

Hey Mickey - It's great that you are doing so well. I've seen that you are on vacation and back in Bandera; good to have you in Texas again. Give me a shout if you're up this way. We can have lunch, a glass of tea, or just hang out and do nothing for a little while. You're always welcome.

Amen Mickey. Every day we can wake up and look in the mirror and say: "I like this guy today and I'm ready to plow forward with what I love to do/be".
And YOU GOT IT Bro; I hear that enthusiasm in your words. Go to it my Brother.
Love ya,
Ricky

Mickey, you certainly did make a impact on lots of steel players with your instructions on YouTube. I still revisit these and it's a treasure trove of goodness. Glad to hear you are enjoying life and still doing music. Rave on.
