Benny Fred Kothmann with Jim Loessberg--CD

Post by Dave Magram »

There are some cuts from Benny Fred Kothmann's 2021 CD "Swinging Halfway to Heaven" on YouTube...

Here are a few:

My Window Faces South

Bring It on Down to My House

From a note on Facebook, it appears that the impressive steel-playing (mostly C6) is by Jim Loessberg.

Benny Fred is an excellent steel player as well. One of the great number of Centex steelers that played for Johnny Bush back in the day. :D

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

When I met him, many years ago, he was playing a Blanton D-10.

I wonder if he still has it.

I saw him at the Llano Opry about 5 or 6 years ago, and we had a short conversation. But I don't recall exactly what guitar he was playing, though I'd remember if it was a Blanton, so it wasn't.
