Australian - looking to buy a guitar!

Post by Matt Dixon »

TL:DR - I'm in Australia - Sell me your steel (pref a SD-10)

Hello fellow steel guitar players.

I'm an Australian and have been playing steel for a while. I have a trusty Carter D10, which I love. But, I'm always flicking through classifieds and online stores looking to buy another guitar. Most likely an SD10. I have no problem running the gauntlet of shipping instruments and would ideally aim for this.

The trouble is, I live out here on this big ole rock in the absolute middle of nowhere (Australia), and finding these instruments is sort of tricky. I've just been touring North America and will be back in October and then again next Feb. A few sellers I've reached out to have either said no to shipping or have asked me to wait til I'm over there to pick up. but, whilst i'm touring I'm already carrying a bit of gear, and because I'm often doing the dance with customs - I'm happy to ship out to Aus.

So, it's negligible to pay for shipping/import tax to Australia as I'd be paying for airplane baggage and import duty anyway, if I pick one up over there.

So, if you're a shipper and have something - reach out. If you have a great steel that you're selling and you absolutely won't ship - I'll be playing through Toronto, Kingston, Montreal, Woodstock NY, Boston MA, New York, Washington DC, Philly, Durham, Nashville, Atlanta, New Orleans, Dallas, Houston in a month or two.

Also - If you have any tips on places to look while going through these places, let me know.

Sorry for the novel I've ended up writing here.

Thanks,

When in Washington DC you will be close (relatively speaking) to Billy Cooper's:
