I contacted Hudson

I contacted Hudson concerning the model that had wooden legs. Here is an excerpt from the reply:

"That was an experimental excursion that ended up being discarded. I think they were too unstable and unreliable. Those were built and sold by Johnny King. My name is Hardin, owner of HUDSON."

Hardin I need too set this story straight I sold a few Growler steels but never had a hand in building Growlers steels.

Growler steels were built in North Carolina by Jimmie Hudson an a few were shipped too me in Nashville too sell.

Look the fact is a few Growlier steels were sold with wooden legs .

The hard wood legs are perfectly stable for a 20 pound Growler steel an
A Sledge hammer , ax handle. Sail boat mass .etc.

The reason the wood leg concept was discontinued was that customers complaints about appearance, not the (stability) of hard wood steel guitar legs.

wood legs

Post by Jimmie Hudson »

Those were designed by me and built by me.
The wood legs worked great and the reason I stopped using them was all the customers wanted to upgrade to aluminum legs. So I just stopped using them.
They work great if you are wanting a lite weight pedal steel that does not brake the bank and has tone to the bone.
I sold them under the growler brand.
Only 3 were built like that so should not be to many complaints.

i like the idea. very low cost is important for beginner instruments. maybe just put a metal wrap over the wood for the desired aesthetic.

What has ten strings, two knee leavers, two pedals, ten tuning keys, an cost $595

It is the Growler ant eater pedal steels

Yes Gary the Growler ten string pedal , 2 knee leaver 2 pedal steel was $595 with shipping crate for a case.

The perfect starter steel .

With Hard wood legs an pedal bar.

Jimmie Hudson built these Growler steels . Jimmie Hudson is the first steel guitar manufacturer that I know that can build a good starter steel for $595 an make a good profit too boot.

Ask Wayne Dahl , why this Growler steel is a good student steel.

A simple pull release changer that’s stays in tune a plays like a dream.
