I don't think anybody would have made such a tab, because there is not a lot of important or difficult steel work in that song.I would recommend sitting down with either the record for a video, like this one and if it gives you any difficulty, come back and ask "OK, what is he doing at 2 minutes and 40 seconds?"

2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

Barrett,
Herb Steiner has the backing track and a lot of it tabbed. See E9 instruction on Forum store.

Also, I suggest you learn it in any key while your at it. Not everyone does covers exactly!

Thanx,

Most I have played with do it in the key of D. One band I currently play with, after they homogenize (I mean modulate) to E, they do the part of the record that is in E, they then modulate back to D and do another verse before the end. They they quickly break into "Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down" which they do in D. Pretty interesting version.

I end up needing to play the the fiddle intro/hook part pretty often if there isn't a fiddle player. Let me know if you need help. Check out Herb's stuff. Let me know if you need more.

Here is how I do the fiddle part, in D:

4____5--5C--5---2__
5__________________3C---3______3__
6___________________________3_____
7_________________________________3__

go up to fret 7 and repeat when it modulates. I use quite a bit of vibrato for this, also delay and reverb. At the end of the song, play it and fade it out. The rest of the song doesn't call for anything unusual, just follow the chords. Listen to the song, as much as you can, that's the important thing.

I also have to play the fiddle parts in the one band that I was speaking of. I do it 2 different ways depending on my mood. Either at fret 5 pedals down position or the 10th fret no pedals position.

Slide up part

Post by Bruce Blackburn »

What is the steel player playing in the slide at the end of this line? “Everything that I’ve got, is just what I’ve got on” ….slide…
