Post by Andrew Roblin »

Rare Rickenbacher B-7 bakelite steel guitar, c. 1937.

One hexagonal volume control, chrome plates, "pat. pending" on horseshoe pickup (indicating made before Aug. 10, 1937, according to Richard Smith, "Rickenbacker Guitars," p. 36).

Serial number C197.

Strings load from the back. Ancient hard-shell case with green lining and band reading "Rickenbacker Electro Guitar." Missing handle replaced with reinforced, hand-stitched Italian cowhide secured by Chicago fasteners for easy repair or replacement, by master Montreal leatherworker Leo Lepore.

Smooth, accurate tuners. Magnets regaussed by horseshoe specialist Rick Aiello in 2009. Bakelite and chrome in very good, clean condition.

$2500 (US) plus shipping.

Sweet guitar....

But close to 4K? Too rich for my blood. Wasn't that long ago I was picking those guys up for $1,800. Guess the scarcity's really driven the prices up.

And no shade, seller! I wish you the best of luck to get as much as you can!
