Wave at 137 bpm

Post by Dale Rottacker »

I heard Daniel Muhammad do this and loved it... this is me not trying to be
Daniel, just trying to be me and trying to STILL figure out single note stuff
that I can both think of and then pull of... some of it questionable 🧐
This was a stretch for me as most things are
but everything learned is a joy. This is about 95% from the speed I wanted
but this was hard enough

Nice job Dale, sounds great. I'm digging your playing. I'm working on that tune also. Keep up the great work. CATT

Thanks so much CATT, I appreciate the encouragement ... I probably wouldn't have thought of this one except for hearing Daniel M do it. I recognized it as soon as I heard but I hadn't heard this song in years.

We'll have to Zoom/Skype again one of these days soon. Would like to hear your approach to ALT's an 13#11's & b9's. The weird stuff.

Dale, you handled that nicely. I love the Bossa Nova sound but prefer a more mellow sound. I started my guitar experience with nylon string guitar so the softer sound is engraved in my brain. I took a whack at it on E9 long ago and dropped it pretty quickly. The C6 is better suited to this jazzy music. I think your speed was fine. I hear it a little slower for my taste. I will watch your video a bunch more to try and learn the moves. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Sir,

I agree with you, its too bright for both my taste or my ability to pull it off completely at that brightness. I've already dialed the treble back and boosted the mid's just a touch. Don't ever let it be said that an MSA can't bite though   . I worked on this from 111-153... the easier the fast speeds felt the slower the slower speeds felt. Some of the 137 was me trying to build some speed in my otherwise slowish playing, with varying degrees of success.
