Here is a photo of Darrell Scott playing my Acoustic lap steel, ADM $199 Weissenborn copy, at the Six String Concert
Image .

He enjoyed playing it at sound check and decided to play it in the concert. He told the audience all about the history and construction of the Weissenborn guitar. One thing is for sure, I can't get it to sound like he does and he used my tone bar and picks... It all in the hands. Photo taken from my stage manager seat back stage. Yep, I have a good view of lots of artists back here...

Dave,
You are right about the player.

I bought one of these used on Reverb, thinking of it as a novelty.
The first thing I did was change out the cheap plastic nut on mine to an Asher Tusq nut. The nut thickness is the same so an easy change for big improvement for less than $20.

It’s no Bear Creek but a dramatic improvement in tone.
Also did the same on my Lazy River and Celtic Cross Weissenborns.

Gary, thanks for the info on the nut. I was going to order a Beard Dobro nut, but it looks like the Asher Tusq nut is the way to go. The ADM nut is a weak point on the guitar.

Gary S. Lynch, you are right about the Asher nut! Great improvement on the ADM guitar. My ears like the tone and this upgrade is the way to go. I have bone nuts on my Luna's but may install an Asher nut on one of them to compare. Thanks again for sharing this upgrade!
