Trivia Question re: Eddie Rabbit's Band

Post by Jerry Overstreet »

I was just reading one of the old issues of Steel Guitar World Magazine, what a treasure trove there. One of the articles was a memorial to the passed on Ned Davis who played in Eddie Rabbit's road band.

Does anybody remember the name of that band? I'll offer a prize of a Jeff Newman finger pick with half the ring broken off and a #12 string that's been on a Carter for 2 years without breaking to the first correct reply provided you pay the shipping charges. Hint: it's not Rabbit Ears or Easter Buddies.

Anybody?

Jerry, did Ned Davis play a Blanton?

If so, I think I saw him with ER in San Antonio, maybe.

yes, pesos, buttons, green stamps...
I just think that's a cool name they put on Eddie's band.

I don't know Chris. I was not all that familiar with his guitar choices.

I don't recall if there were any photos of him and guitar in that article. I've already put the magazine back in the stack so I'd have to try and dig it out again to look.

I'll bet someone else here knows though.

Ned played a Emmons PP rosewood when I played bass, banjo, and steel with him in the mid 70's. We played at the Peoples Choice on Lamar Ave in Memphis.

Here's a very old thread that has some more info on Ned's equipment, and Eddie Rabbitt and his bands:

Chris, I see you asked the same question in the old thread Pete posted the link to.

Still no clarity on who played the Blanton. I know several people played them in the day. Dickie Overby for one, but I don't know if he ever played in the Hare Trigger band. Maybe something will come to light sooner or later.

Thanks Jerry, Pete. I see I asked the same question nearly 20 years ago!
