My New G2

Post by Jon Voth »

I thought I would share pics of my first steel I purchased. It sounds and plays great like I hoped it would. I selected and sent the wood for the aprons, maybe a one of a kind then. It's a 9 and 9. The pedals are very smooth and sensitive-I can't "ride the clutch" at all like my GFI. Hats off to John and the Mullen crew they made a great guitar.

The Mullen crew does indeed build great guitars. Tone, playability, reliability and customer service beyond reproach. They do their own lacquer finishes in house, and they are second to none. You’ve got a guitar for a lifetime right there.

My only criticism of that instrument is that it doesn’t live at my house.

Gorgeous build. Congratulations to you on your aquisition and to the Mullen crew for their beautiful work.

Do you play it with the US Army Band or are you still in service?

I've only done a couple of civilian gigs but I'll bring it to Army rehearsal tomorrow. I have about two years left until the Army says I'm too old.

Thanks for everyone's kind remarks. It's like a new car that you want to park away from other cars. I'm worried about people bumping into it and I can't just plop my bar on top of it. Maybe I should get a beater Mullen for gigs.

Don't get me wrong my GFI sounds and plays great-stays in tune and never noticed any drop. But the Mullen plays like butter and the pedals are so smooth, and I am digging the single coil sound-it is new to me.

Hope everyone had a great Mem Day weekend.

That is a beautiful lacquer finish, And polish on all metal great too.
Flagler At near 5000 feet and protected to the west by the Rocky Mountains would help. Low humidity is a requirement for a beautiful lacquer finish.

Nice looking guitar! I like my G2 D-10 so much I just ordered a new SD-10 in dark blue. Love the D-10, just need something a little lighter because I'm still learning C6 and don't use it a lot.
