Your post did nothing but provide valuable info to this thread Jerry, but it did get me thinking, when I started playing I watched Jeff’s videos a lot. I never could get my hand fat enough up to do what he does so well.

I discovered Joe Wrights 32 moves in 20 I guess and I spent months doing those exercises a little faster every day. If it were not for Joe I would not still be playing and somewhere in the middle of that I started being able to sound much better to my ear.

The reason I started this thread is to ask how people pick as I was trying to play something with the same note several times in a row and realized I don’t have this anywhere near smooth if it is very fast.

I actually got out Jeff’s speed picking video yesterday and tried to follow his palm blocking thumb middle as close as I could and I could come much closer than I could 3 years ago. So I am experimenting, and thumb middle is much easier to play a single string faster.

If it were not for Jeff I would have quit pretty quickly and if it were not for Joe I would not have gotten over the hump!

Thanks to all for helping me figure this out!
