Bobby Lee Memorial Concert, May 7 Sebastopol, CA

Post by Ross Shafer »

Come out to the Hop Monk Tavern in Sebastopol on Sunday May 7th for a musical celebration of our beloved Bobby Lee and his Legacy. Show is from noon til 5:00 PM.

Bobby was a very active member in the Sonoma County/Norcal music scene. Many of his former bandmates and favorite local musicians will be taking the stage to perform in Bobby's honor. Some of Bobby's CDs will be available for purchase as well as Steel Guitar Magazine and Record Collections.

There will also be a silent auction featuring a few of Bobby's favorite instruments and amplifiers and other belongings. Bobby loved his gear and I promise all of it includes a heapin' helpin' of Bobby's sweet soul.

C'mon down for this musical send off to the man who gifted all us Steel nerds with this awesome community meeting place.

There are very few times that I wished I still lived in Cali. This would be one of them...

Yeah -- there are few times that I am tempted to hop in a plane and get somewhere remote but wow, this.....this is special.
Not gonna happen (jumping cross-country) but I'll be there in spirit.

I wish I could; but it's just too far.

I wish the event every success and I know it'll be a fitting tribute to our b0b.

I hope to go to this event. Shoshannah's post says Sunday, May 7, and I assume this is what you meant.

I've gota big work day on Sunday, but I'll see if I can squeeze over for a bit. Thanks for letting us know Ross.

I had to leave the event after my set to catch my evening gig. The event is still going on. I did stay to listen to one of b0bs daughter speak…he really loved the steel guitar forum community.

Here’s a photo of the four steel players filling in for b0b one last time! Starting left is Larry Jones with b0bs old crossover, me, Jon Mitgard, and Michael Capellla.

Here are some photos from the get together today. The Hop Monk Tavern in downtown Sebastopol is a nice place, with pretty good food and great beers.

Thanks to all who came out to celebrate Bobby's life and legacy. A lot of love and appreciation for our dear leader was clearly in evidence. A great and heart warming event! Big thanks to Michael and Sherri Cain for making this special day happen!

Special thanks to those who dug deep to contribute to Bobby's family. Especially those who dug even deeper to take home a few of Bobby's favorite pieces of music gear.
