Bruce Wandmayer
Friends, I got the news this morning that our dear friend Bruce Wandmayer is gone. I'm not going to talk him up. If you knew Bruce then there is nothing more that needs be said. One of the most friendly, talented, positive and calmly enthusiastic people I have ever known. I play steel today because of him. Rest in peace dear friend.

Wow, I'm so sad to hear this. Bruce and I kicked around on gigs in LA during the 80's and maybe 90's, nice guy, great player. He'd recently relocated to Sedona, AZ, from Santa Cruz, correct?

Sad to hear this. We crossed paths a few times when he lived in Santa Cruz, CA. I think he came to my house once to buy a SF Twin Reverb…great guy.
From what I heard,he played steel and fronted a band called Pecos while in Los Angeles and used Bruce Meadows as his stage name. I heard the the band broke up when Warren Zevon stole his band for some road gigs.
He also doubled on Saxophone and picked up gigs with The Trailer Park Troubadours.
RIP Bruce

Wow. I first met Bruce in 2007 at Colin Alder's Lapstravaganza in Santa Cruz where he played a set opening for Freddie Roulette. And a year later when we were both playing the 2nd Lapstravaganza along with David Phillips and Bobby Black, Bruce put me up for the night at his place. Great guy and talented player with a nice touch who I'll always remember. R.I.P.
Here's one of his tunes on his CruzTone steel.

Sad news. Remember reading his owning Ed Black's D10 Emmons and his remembrances of Ed. Now he is gone. Some nice pics on his Facebook page of him with his band and playing that decaled Emmons. RIP Bruce.
