JOHN HUGHEY RUN - Can anyone help?

Post by John A. Russell »

Hey all

I bought the "SLIDE" CD many moons ago and I was so impressed with John Hughey's version of the old song "True Love"

I have been trying to figure just what John is playing
From 2 minutes to 2 minutes and 6 seconds. Just 6 seconds of pure magic.

I've listened until my ears hurt.

Such an unusual run.

Can anyone out there help?

I have figured the BC run up to it, but the Slides have got me stuck.

Those are Eb dim chords. My first thought was that the F lever must be involved, but now I think it's AB, vertical and E lowers on frets such as 15,12,9 and 6 although I haven't figured the exact voicing yet.

Hughey wasn't a complicated player - he just did simple things in subtle ways.

Yup I figured that, but its the passing slide positions that twist my ears. I will try again, with rested ears.
