New Yorker inconsistent string volume

Hi all, been a minute since I posted, but I am now the proud owner of a National New Yorker Lap steel, listed as 1939 but I think it's a 1940. Anyhow, love playing it so far, but I have a strange issue: string 5 is much louder than the other strings, and string 1 is noticeably quieter. The other strings seem about the same. It was tuned to c6 when I got it but I put new strings on to move it to my preferred d6 tuning (one step up). I used SIT strings, gauges form low to high D.034w F#.026w A.020 B.018 D.015 F#.014
My only thought is to swap the loud bottom F# to an unwound string, but that doesn't help my quiet top F#. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you remove the hand rest, you'll find that the poles are individually adjustable.

Whelp, that was easy! Adjusting the poles did the trick, thanks for the help!
