"Wayne Shorter, Intrepid Saxophonist and Composer, Dies at 89"

This one is hard to take. He spoke straight to me at a time when I needed direction. But he wasn't speaking to me. He was speaking to everybody.

Mine too! He was the Big E of Saxophone! From Miles to Steely Dan always loved Adams Apple, the mighty oaks keep falling around us ..sad news!
I thought Nashville was the roughest, but I know I’ve said the same about them all.
I received my education, drivin through the Nation listenin to Paul!.. ( Franklin that is! )

Man, truly one of the greatest musicians to inhabit planet Earth. I was lucky enough to see him a few times, including towards the end of his time with Miles. Just an amazing human being and musician.

RIP Wayne Shorter
Saw his quartet at the Sydney Opera House on his 2010 tour to Australia.
Will never forget his performance that night.
Been a Weather Report fan for a long time too.
If you haven't checked out his Montreux Jazz festival performance from the 1980s with Santana I highly recommend it ( also featuring Patrice Rushen)
