Jerry Byrd / Ray Montee
Does anyone happen to know what happened to the huge amount of Jerry Byrd material that Ray had collected and posted on the internet before his passing? He had an absolutely amazing amount of JB content. Miss chatting ( and arguing) with Skipper. He could be contentious at times but he had a wealth of steel guitar experience and knowledge. He was a good guy. I hope the material is still around somewhere...

Mrs.Boards was Ray's webmaster for the last years of his life, and did the documentary of Ray too.
Long story short - she managed to hand off the entire web site before Sally (Ray's wife) allowed it to be permanently deleted from existence.
It was donated to the (at the time) president of the HSGA.
I don't remember the exact name of the then president, or more importantly what was done with the web material.

Thank you for the info George. Much appreciated! I may go over to the HSGA website again and see if they have contact info on anyone that may possibly know if it still exists. I had a look around at their website the other day but didn't see anything substantial. How are you enjoying NM? I'll be in Santa Fe for a month this summer. I sure do miss living there but my bank account appreciated the move. I can't imagine how expensive it is now!!! Thanks again for the info.

Before Ray's site went off line, I downloaded all (or at least most) of the Jerry Byrd material Ray provided in his "jukebox". I have them all in a dropbox. There are 112 songs

archive.org might be a good place to look, different snapshots taken at different times.

I think about Ray sometimes and miss his posts here on the SGF. I wonder what ever happened to his 4-neck Bigsby.
I always liked this clip of Ray playing on TV years ago . . .
