Music stand ideas ?

Hey all!
I'm not afraid to assemble Something From others ideas.
Just wondered What people might do that maybe made Some kind of attached music stand to their steel?
If you've made something already, I'm not too high and mighty to be shown a pic as a way of putting something together myself.

Are you using sheet music? I use the OnSong app to scroll songs on my iPad and there are many different iPad mounts available. Its a great app. I can highlight areas or make notes to myself on how I want to play different parts, who's taking the solo and when, etc. I have mine attached to a leg on my steel.

Is the stand for home/studio use or live?

For home/studio I have Tom Bradshaw's Tabrack (the big one). It's pretty amazing, but it's big and might feel like a wall between you and an audience.

I also made a very small music stand that holds 5x7" index cards and clamps onto the back leg of my steel with a pipe clamp. It's small, low, and hides behind the guitar on stage. I use this mostly for big gigs where I might need a simple number chart for tunes.

I've seen people use a cheap music stand, with the shaft sawed off so only a short shaft and stand remain. I imagine you could attach this to a small piece of 2x4 and add a pipe clamp and it would work, as long as the payload wasn't too heavy.

That’s what I use, for my band I have my set list, what key the song is in with notes covering basic steel parts.

Currently at the house my steel faces the wall pretty closely
So a music stand with legs is a big floor space killer.

I use one that clamps to a mic stand or steel guitar leg similar to this: clickhere
Mine is just large enough to hold say, a 5x7 index card which is all I need for charts.

There are other makes of this like Stagg etc. from the online music stores.

I am also looking for a leg clamped iPad stand, but one that could be centered and not to the left or right side of the guitar (like the smaller Bradshaw one.)
Maybe a leg clamp with a short adjustable gooseneck? Anything like that in existence, or do I have to have it fabricated. Or maybe something that can clamp
to the center of the body of the guitar?

I can clamp it to the leg but has only minimal adjustment for this purpose. I found a position that works for me.
A problem with it is the tightening bolt has a plastic head that crushed and lost it ability to grip the leg tightly.
If you are going to leave your steel facing the wall and don't mind holes in your dry wall you might consider bolting something like the to the wall, somehow.

I use OnSong with an IPad mounting bracket that clamps to a steel guitar leg.
Had to add an extension to make it taller.
Used to have an IPad floor stand, a Mic stand, and a Hot spot monitor stand in front of my steel.
Now using a Shure headset mic and prefer to not have a bunch of floor stands in front of me.
Sometimes there is not enough room.

I use a little clamp-on stand made by K&M.
It’s not the sturdiest thing, but it gets the job done and is small and portable.
It prompted me to draw up my charts in landscape format as it’s roughly the size of an 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper.

Get a thin nut to fit the thumbscrew (or hacksaw a regular nut in half so it's not as thick). Then tack-weld or super glue the nut on the very end of the threads of the thumbscrew. Then get a 1/2" rubber cap (cut down as necessary) to go over the end of the nut/thumbscrew. The increased area will prevent the thumbscrew from piercing the rubber. And since rubber has more "grip" than plastic, the rubber cap will not be as likely to slip, and it will also protect the guitar leg better from dents or marks.

and mounted another iPad holder, a mic boom and my headphone mixer on that. I disassembled an old (useless) mic stand for the boom.
