Late 30’s 10-String Gibson EH-150 at Guitar Center online

Post by Nelson Checkoway »

I troll the GC online site often and a 10-string Gibson EH-150 showed up today (located at the Albany NY store). I think 11 were made total between late 30’s and early 40’s. Asking $2k. Has the “optional” hand rest over the pickup. Looks OK except it appears some knucklehead “upgraded” it with modern Schaller tuners. 😡

Don’t know if that’s a decent price and/or if it can be restored without evidence of the alterations. Just figured I’d post in case someone has been looking for a hen’s tooth.

They would have had to drill the holes out, ugh! I think it came with open back Grovers.

Price seems high to me. Maybe a collector, I doubt a player would be interested. I have an exact copy of this made by RAM guitars except mine is 13 strings.

Can’t pull up the GC listing, even to compare features. GC seems to display later model Rick Panda steels as “30’s Vintage” too. They’re not much for George Grunions.. oops, Gruhn saavy 🙃

I believe the instrument has been sold. It's no longer listed on the Guitar Center website as far as I can tell.
