Bill Hatcher Custom Built Lap Steel...CLOSE...No Interest**

Post by Bob Tuttle »

This 9 string lap steel was built by Bill Hatcher in 2020. It is tuned to C6 tuning. Very well built steel and in very good condition. Sounds great. Soft gig bag included.
$450.00, shipped.

I'm curious: do you have both a low and high G in your tuning?
Thanks.

The Box Acoustic 10 String C6

Post by Francesco Porcu »

Hi Bob, if you know who built that lap steel for you, would they also build a box like the one Paul Franklin uses with Dire Straits? It's a box that his father made for him with 10 strings tuned in C6. Thanks a lot for your information. Francesco

Tony, it has a 23 inch scale and the pickup appears to be a GeorgeL's with the mounting tabs removed and the logo cleaned off.

Francesco, Bill Hatcher built the guitar. I have no idea if he would build what you mentioned. You can contact him here on the forum as he is a member.

This is a very nice and good sounding instrument. The only reason I'm selling it is that I just took delivery of a beautiful, new Clinesmith ten string that I order last February. I doubt that I'll be playing any other lap steel now.

The string spacing is 11/32" at both the bridge and the nut.

If you are in the market for a nice Lap steel at a great price, this might be the one for you. I've played a lot of gigs with it over the past couple of years and it has done a great job. The extra string gives you some nice options.
