The Johnny High Show

Post by Sonny Jenkins »

Does anyone know who played steel for the Johnny High show in the DFW area? Was it maybe Reece? That's where LeAnn Rhimes got started. I know Milo played on "Blue" but who was Johnny's regular steel player?

Yes,,,Reece for sure. Long story,,,but the reason I asked was because of Reece and Johnny's connection to the Retirement Community I'm fortunate enough to be living at,,Texas Masonic Retirement Community. Reece and his brother were both in the band.

My Friend Reece Anderson played years for The Johnny High Show. I played for Johnny High's cousin Chisai Child's Grapevine Opry of Texas early 1980s.

Yes Terry,,I think Chisai's aunt (aunt Suzie?) funded one of the Venues that housed the show either in Arlington or Grapevine.

Johnny and Reece,,,and most of the band were all Masons,,and had a strong connection to this Masonic community. I think Reese's mother,,or maybe his aunt lived here. Residents of this community never had to pay admission to the shows. This was originally called Texas Home for Aged Masons,,,,but now we have cottages and high rise luxury apartments for independent living,,,as well as a state of the art nursing facility,,,,for when I get too old to function,,,,LOL

Yes Sonny Jenkins her Aunt Suzie funded all of the venues. I knew Chisai's Mom Anseth and her Grandmother the family affectionately called Annie Mouse, was the sister of Aunt Suzie. And Junior Knight is correct Bud Carter was tied in with parts and all of it has a Steel Guitarist from different periods of time. Quite a Family and one of the best paying gigs that I ever played.
