Not long ago I acquired an early postwar NS with crumbling tuner buttons and a fried horseshoe pickup with the intent of getting it back into playing condition. After re-buttoning the tuners and a Sentell rewind, I wired it like a 1950s Gibson Les Paul Junior, and it sounded fantastic.

I have no clue what Jerry did with the pickup. All I can tell you is it was dead when I sent it out, and it worked like a charm when I got it back.
