May add a Fender Jaguar to my collection-recommendations ?

Post by Larry Lenhart »

Maybe a dumb move on my part, but i still lust over a Fender Jaguar and was wondering if anyone owns one that they really prefer over the many models out there. I am aware of the bridge and tremelo problems, but I have a good guitar tech who can fix those things, so I am not too worried about that. Probably looking in the low $1k range. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have an original 1964 (not reissue), and never had a problem with the bridge. The vibrato handle used to flop down, but that's a very easy fix. They have a great neck and low action. The sound is pure Fender, but with lower sustain than their other guitars (that do not use a "floating" bridge).

Only the Japanese reissues would sell for anything close to a grand. Never played one of those, so I can't tell you about how good they are.

I bought a reissue maybe 17 years ago. I've used it on a few recordings. No problems at all with it, but it's not played that often (I have so many guitars!). Its short scale (24 inch) gives it unique feel and has an especially great muted sound. I like it a lot!
