Eddy Dunlap

Post by Darrell Owens »

I am visiting Nashville for a few days. I saw Ben Haggard Thursday night, and a great young steel player, Eddy Dunlap was filling in for Norm Hamlet, and did a great job. Monday night, we saw The Time Jumpers, and Eddy Dunlap was sitting in for Paul Franklin.

To sit in for either Norm Hamlet or Paul Franklin is a huge call, but Eddy did a great job, and no one was disappointed. As if it wasn’t challenge enough, Lloyd Green and Russ Pahl were both in the audience tonight.

Dan Dunlap is a very friendly player who seems to enjoy every minute of the gig. He played C6 and E9 equally as well. He plays a Beautiful ShoPro and powers it through a Little Walter 89 with 2 LW speaker cabinets.

I did miss seeing Norm Hamlet and Paul Franklin, but Eddy delivered a powerful performance and never missed a note . . . And that is amazing considering the tight arrangements of thebTime Jumpers!

I was there last month and he was filling in at the opry. I also saw him a few years back in Norwalk Ct. Top notch……

I have to say that I enjoy listening to Eddy Dunlap play as much as listening to any player I have ever heard. It is good to see him getting some high profile jobs.

Eddie put out a fantastic CD a few years ago. Jeff at ShowPro probably still has them. This one should be in every steel recording library.

Also, Eddy played almost every instrument except for a few guest appearances from the likes of Lloyd Green and Jimmy Capps.
