Reading tablature

Post by Tom Margulies »

I'm playing delta blues on an acoustic lap steel. I understand the symbol for sliding up to a note but I see it occasionally before "0". What does this indicate?

Thanks for you time.

Hey Tom, That is an open string. For example, if it said on the first string 2 and then 0, then you would play the 2nd fret and then the open string.

The slide symbol precedes the 0. This would imply a slide "up to" the open string. I found this on a Bob Brozeman tab transcribed by John Roberts. So I mystified as to what
/0 means.
