That is a good deal, although it looks like it needs some TLC. There's about a week's worth of polishing, plus a probable cleaning of the changers. Looks like there may be some finish peeling on the back as well. Also, it's set up "Day" right now - not a huge deal, but for someone who doesn't know how to change that around, it could be a stumbling block. Most players will want to add two knees. It's single raise/lower, just like the Professional. An early Pro II, before the nylon tuners - this thing must have incredible tone.
All in all, not too bad a deal. I'm sure it will be gone by the end of the day. |

I saw that one, too... it's a round front ProII, before the "Custom" decal with brass pullers and bell cranks.
Considered by more than a few to be Sho-Bud's best vintage.
A little TLC and some Coop levers is all this baby needs. |

IMHO, with only 2 levers, it really wasn't a big bargain...unless you could restore and upgrade it yourself. About $1,000 worth of work (cleaning, polishing, and adding 3 or 4 more levers) would make it a $2,200-$2,300 guitar. |

I agree with Donny. It will make a great guitar with some elbow grease and parts. I just hesitate to buy from someone who calls it a 'steel pedal guitar'.

I wouldn't exactly say "amazing deal".
I got a near mint Professional for $850....
and that's with the original volume pedal.

I've got a Pro-II almost identical to that one - mine is serial #5908, has the same diamond shaped inlays up the sides, raised fretboards, walnut stain, 8x2 single+single with brass barrels & 2-hole pullers, and the neck screws that come through the bottom instead of the top.
You can add more levers, but either way they are about as rare and special as Sho-Buds get. You can about trust your life with them too.
Here's mine:
Sorry I don't have a pic of it set up or with strings on it - this is a photo I had filed away. It currently has strings on it. |
