Such sad news. I got to do a gig with him about 10 years ago (me on guitar) and he played perfectly and was a true class act.
He’s the reason I have my ZB, which was a holy grail guitar for me.
Wondering if anyone has a bio or knows of video clips they could post? Looked around on YouTube for video and didn’t see any.
Thanks and my condolences to his other friends here and family.

So sad to read of Larry's passing.
I met him one time in St Louis & we
became instant friends.
He was a great man & a great steel guitar player.
He told me that one of his closest longtime
friends was Norm Hamlet.
He was always very nice to me.
R.I.P. Sir
Thanks for the friendship.

"Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Then it's definitely in that amp."
We need to turn the TWANG up a little
It's not what you play through, it's what you play through it.
They say that tone is all in the fingers...I say it is all in your head

the value of friendship. Old friends shine like diamonds, you can always call them and - most important - you can't buy them.

Larry was a great guy and a great friend. Sadly, I hadn't spoken with him in a few years, but we had great times together at many a steel show. Keep picking upstairs, brother.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

After Mr. Petree found out I had lived in Ridgecrest when I was a kid -- where he once worked as a firefighter -- he reached out to me with beaucoup stories and anecdotes about the old days like we'd known each other forever. A very friendly man, a fine musician, and a priceless source of information. My sincere condolences to his family.
RIP, Larry.

Larry Petree
Larry was a true gentleman, a fine steel player, and just an all around great guy to be with. In his immaculately clean garage, he tinkered with steel guitars, showed fellow steelers the advantages of his B11 tuning, and was just a living encyclopedia of who played where in the old days in Bakersfield. He and his wife will be missed by not only me, but by all who had the honor and pleasure of meeting Larry and Mrs. Petree.

Larry
Sorry to hear the news of Larry’s passing. Years ago, I met Larry and Norman at the Dallas Steel Show. Sure enjoyed my trip to Bakersfield to visit Larry and see him picking at Trout’s. He was a walking history book of Bakersfield music. He showed me the building where Mosrite guitars were built that night. Just a class guy! Glad to call him a friend. My condolences to his family and friends.
