Played with the Band - An Appreciation Post

Post by C. Eric Banister »

[MODS: If this isn't in the right spot, please feel free to move it.]

I took my pedal steel to band practice last night for the first time and everyone loved it. I played it on five songs we are adding to our set. All pretty easy, but pretty fun ("In Color," "Ol Red," "Neon Moon," "The Ride," "Poor Poor Pitiful Me").

I just wanted to post this for two reasons:
1) to all the vets here who share their knowledge and advice - THANK YOU! It has really helped me focus and progress.

2) to all the new players (like me) - Keep at it, the smiles on the bands face is worth the practice time!

Just wait till the audience hears...
And applauds. ;-)

Your journey is just beginning! Enjoy it, and remember to document (with photos and videos) your progress and good times from now on. It will mean a lot to you (and others) years down the road.

One of my biggest musical regrets is that so much of what I have done and experienced over the past 50+ years is documented only by memories. :\

Good on you Eric. Good to see you're mixing the steel into the band. Have fun and enjoy!
