Janet Wise interview

Post by Larry King »

It only seems appropriate to mention another Texas Steel Guitar Player
of the year. It was 1994 when Janet was given that recognition, voted
on by over 800 members. She was/is so deserving of that distinction,
having put her heart and soul into this love affair with the Pedal
Steel. She plunged into the deep end of the pool , all the while supported
by her husband of 42 years , the late Jim Wise.

From early on she went to Jeff Newman's school and it worked so well that
by now ,she has played virtually every Convention show you could name..i.e.
Texas, Tulsa, Phoenix, Atlanta , Deep South at Gulfport and numerous
smaller regional venues. Always anticipated, a genuine crowd pleaser ,
and loved by all. It takes dedication on steroids to achieve the high
regard that everyone has for Janet ..

I failed to ask her what her first steel was , but I can tell you that
when she hits the stage , it is bling on parade . Sitting behind an
absolutely gorgeous and stunningly beautiful blue , diamond sparkle
custom made Mullen and matching seat , it makes a statement that says,
get ready . Sunglasses recommended !!!

Driving up from Angleton Texas with a detour by Nederland , Janet
gets the "farthest travelled" award.....a fine Christian lady who
truly delivers a great set of songs guaranteed to please the most
discriminating ear . We look forward to seeing Janet at the OSGA
annual Convention in Jenks {Tulsa suburb} Oklahoma.

Just think about it.....where else can you go to experience not
one, but two Texas Steel Players of the Year. Only in Oklahoma

b0b notes: Janet Wise will be performing at the OSGA show in Jenk, OK, on June 24, 2022.

Janet is a fantastic player and a 1st class lady as well. I look forward to hearing her play again. Thanks Larry for the interview with Janet. I know her world has been turned upside down with the passing of her husband. I hope this show gives her some support during this difficult time in her life. I guarantee there will be much love shown to Janet the weekend of the show. It is going to be a great weekend.

correction on Janet Lynn Wise OSGA interview

Post by Larry King »

Folks , I stand corrected {by Janet} regarding the
voting process on the Steel Player of the Year.
I'm told that the honor is voted on by THE BOARD .
How many are on the board ? I don't know but I'm
quite sure it isn't 800.....however that means she
was selected by her peers , folks who know what a
deserving recipient Janet is.

Now excuse me while I lick my wounds and try to
recover from my error . To tell the truth , I'm
tired of being perfect.

Don't touch that dial...lay the remote down 'cause
I've got more. I'm just getting started so stay
tuned

We enjoy Janet and her considerable talents and love to see her play the show's. Plus she has the sharpest customized steel seat I've ever seen. I'm sure this is a difficult time for her, but I'm glad she decided to continue to perform for us. There's nothing but love from the crowd for Janet, as I'm sure it will be in abundance in Oklahoma.

Always a crowd pleaser. Her salute to our military is always special. Janet, have you added anything for the new Space Force?
