Tuning wrench gizmo

Post by Len Amaral »

A while back there was a topic regarding different tuning wrenches and someone posted a pic of a stubby screw driver modified with a nut driver. I thought that was a good idea and was prepared to saw off the Phillips end of stubby, drill out and epoxy a 3/16 nut driver into the stubby.

However, in my bunch of screw drivers I found this Stubby screwdriver that has a pull out hex extension with a Phillips insert on one end and regular tip on the other. I picked up a cheap hex nut driver set made for a drill or electric screwdriver and the 3/16 bit fit in the extension. No modification needed.

On my Williams keyless, you need more than a standard endplate tuning wrench to torque hex nuts that tighten the strings. Pretty cool tool :)

That's strange. Maybe your keyless is different, but I just use the endplate wrench for tuning.

Neat stuff, though :)

This wrench is when you change strings on a keyless Williams. It's easier to tighten the string down around the hex nut. You can do it with the smaller end plate tuning wrench but having something substantial to torque the hex nut down is easier.
