I don't normally do this ,but I've seen a lot of proud owners of their New Guitars Post them on here and its good to see a player that is really happy with his guitar. That means a lot.But anyway as well as every other steel player, I've been in search of that certain guitar that would give me that certain tone that I've had in my head for years. To make a long story short I found it.
I was over at Gary Rittenberrys 3 weeks ago,and when I got out of the car I could hear Gary playing a guitar that sounded pretty good. And the closer I got the more I could hear the guitar. So I stood outside the shop for a few minutes while Gary was playing,he didn't know I was out there. And the more he played that guitar the more I liked it. So I opened the door and walked in and Gary was playing a guitar he had built for himself. It was on a body and a half frame. Now I have never heard that much tone out of a little guitar like that before.A lot of sustain, good string seperation. And the sustain was even all the way across the neck. So I was ready to try and get that little guitar. So he said play it and see what you think. I did and it took me 3 weeks,a guitar and a bunch of other stuff and some money, but I got it. I think Gary decided it would be better for him to let me have it than to put up with me coming over ever week trying to trade for it.So here's some pic's of my long search for that certain tone. And I didn't think I would find it in a little body and half guitar.
Thanks Gary

Hey Steve! That little "half pad" is the way to go! I wish more builders would offer that. It makes it considerably lighter, and the pad to me, is perfect. Congratulations on the nice ride!

Thanks Curt and Mike. I really like it.
There are a lot of good guitars out there today, and I hope more people will get to hear one of these guitars. They may not be for everyone, but you won't know till you try it. And everyone knows what they like to hear. I'm just glad I finally found mine.
Mike I still plan on trying to get over your way, don't give up on me and I will bring this guitar with me when I come. I may see if I can catch Gary at the right time and let him drive me over.

Hi Steve,
I set down and played a SD-10 Rittenberry at Bobbe's back in April, and these are some nice sounding, and playing instruments.I'm suprised that it's still on the floor at Bobbe's shop, and no one has bought it yet.Smile

Hey Kenny,
These are indeed nice playing and sounding guitars. I think a lot of folks are missing out on a good thing. But with all the guitars being made today its a buyers market. But I'm more than pleased with my Rittenberry Guitar. I think the one you are talking about has the powder coated end plates and neck and pedal rack. At least I think that is what it is called. Its different and I think it looks great. I just hope thats not causing someone to miss out on a very nice guitar.

"Half pad is where its at" Something about the feel of a half pad that I really like. I think because it is just enough to give support, but not too much, as to get in the way.

I am glad to read these good comments about the Rittenberry guitar. I have known Gary for about 12 years and he is top of the cut. I love my new Rittenberry guitar.

Steve,
Yes, the teal green SD-10with the powder coated end plates, neck, and pedal bar is the one. I'd like to sit down to a Rittenberry D-10,with 8 & 5, and give it a test drive.
