Has Anyone used a Victoria Victorilux for steel?

Post by Jake DeJongh »

I'm curious if anyone has used a 2x12 6L6 version of Victoria's Victorilux for pedal steel? It's 45 watts with full band EQ, I read it's based on an AB763 Blackface circuit. It seems to check all the boxes for providing nice steel guitar tone. Thoughts?

I have never seen or heard the Victoria amps but I believe they have a good reputation among guitar players. The quality is likely there but they are a bit pricey and I feel like a tried and true proven steel amp may be money wisely spent. Particularly due to the fact most 6 string amps are lacking clean headroom we desire for steel. A chance to test drive is mandatory.

victoria are great amps. I've owned a few and currently have the high power tweed twin. It's great for steel but I actually use my fender rumble 200 more.

Like others, I’ve played 6 string thru a few different models. High quality, nice looking, expensive

Someone here was using one for steel . Cartwright ?

Anyway, do a forum search, you may learn what you’re asking.

Wow, check out the amazing memory on Steve!
Yes, I had a 5F8 Victoria (with D-120’s) for quite a few years, amazing amp for pedal steel, not great for old arthritic backs though…
I don’t know why a 2x12 Victoria with an AB763 circuit wouldn’t be great for pedal steel. It might not keep up with a loud drummer/ stage volume but who needs that anyway?
Victorias are beautifully built amps. I think a big part of their great sound is the lightweight pine cab, it makes the amp very resonant with a real singing quality.

I’ll forget my future ex wife’s anniversary, but not some obscure but cool amp someone played 20 years ago.

I remember the important stuff….

I've played a Victoria Regal 1x15 for years. Sounded great with steel. At 35 watts the headroom wasn't the cleanest but it held its own. The model you're looking at looks great for steel imo.
