It’s with a very heavy heart to let you know that Denny Barnes passed away early this morning.
Denny was not only a decorated Vietnam Veteran, an amazing husband of 52 years, a father, grandfather, Great Grandfather, brother and especially steel player. Denny played mostly around southern Indiana area playing the family country music shows, Jamborees, Opry’s, nursing homes and anyplace that loved great country music. Denny was known for an incredibly smooth touch and tone to the bone! He was also one of the earliest members of the Indy Steel Guitar Club. And a nicer man you will NEVER meet. I can honestly say the man didn’t have a mean or even “unhappy” bone in his body. Even in his final days he was worried about everyone else and not himself. He told me Tuesday night that he didn’t think he could fight this fight much longer but he wasn’t scared. He said “I’m right where I want to be with the Lord” It took all his breath to complete a sentence, but he said that very sentence every time we talked. God got an amazing Angel this morning but I have lost a dearest friend.
