New Album - Rose Sinclair / Wave

Post by Rose Sinclair »

Hi Formites-

Here's a new EP of instrumental jazz standards for y'all. With Dan Walton-piano (ex-Asleep at the Wheel), Lyon Graulty-sax/guitar, Michael Archer-upright bass, Jason Baczynski-drums (current Asleep at the Wheel), and yours truly on the ole '61 D-8 Fender Stringmaster.

We woodshedded these tunes at little weekly outdoor shows in Austin during covid and then piled into the studio and cut the record.

You can listen/download here:
https://rosesinclair.bandcamp.com/album/wave

Or I'll be happy to mail you a CD. Send your address and $15 to:
Paypal: rosesinclair@earthlink.net
Venmo: @Rose-Sinclair-3
Appreciate you and thanks for listening!

I done downloaded it! Nice stuff. Where’s that ol’ Carvin I sold you? At least it got you started. You’ve upgraded considerably in every way.

Listening to "Wave" now, Rose. I like your comping on steel! I've been working on that aspect of playing myself.

Also nice selection of tunes. My faves!

I agree with Chris’ comment about comping. Really nice. I’m also trying to get better at that.
Needless to say your lead is always fabulous. I just don’t often get to hear a lap steel player comp.

Now would you please come play Toronto!

Wonderful selections of songs, very nice styling, with a nice warm tone on your steel. Enjoyable listening for those who enjoy pure steel, played by a great player. {GLR}☆☆☆☆☆

Thanks for the kind words, y'all. Yes, I started getting into these latin tunes and figured out some rhythmic, chordal ways to comp and blend into the rhythm section - super fun and adds another layer of interest.
Kevin Maul - I still have your old Carvin and got Herb Remington to sign it:

FYI, that version of Summer Samba is from Herb Remington.

Rose, I adore classic Bossa tunes and have always felt the steel is perfect for them. Cindy C and I have talked for years about this. Very nicely played and arranged. Congratulations on the release!

Downloading the CD now! :)

I love how melodic your improvs are on this record, Rose. Watch What Happens is another Bossa tune that would sound great in your style.

Rose;..was fortunate enough to see you play several times in both rooms at the Dallas show a few months ago. Thoroughly enjoyed your musicianship! Great work…thanks!
I thought Nashville was the roughest, but I know I’ve said the same about them all.
