Tying notes together for a ending in a song?

Post by Henry Brooks »

I'm trying to enter the song Satin Doll into Band-in-the-Box, but it keeps messing up the first ending, bars 6 to 8. It connects the eight note of the fourth beat of bar 6 to a dotted half note, beat 1, and automatically puts a quarter rest on beat four of bar 7. What I need is a whole note in bar 7 to be connected the eight note in bar 6 and to a dotted half note in bar 8, beat 1, that is a dotted half note with the quarter rest on beat four. The program will let me enter a half note in bar 8 but it won't connect it to the whole note in bar 7. This is an old version, 2008, of Band-in-a-Box. Thanks
Henry

OK Henry

I can't say if it will work in 2008 version but it's worth a try.

Don't enter any notes in bar 7 & 8.

Edit the last eighth note in bar 6 and make it's duration longer (to cover the required count).

You could try 7 beats 30 ticks. That worked for me in BIAB 2019

Thanks Peter, I finally got it to work. I had to switch to the staft roll mode and right click on the eighth note in bar 6 like you suggested and drag it all the way to the whole note in bar 8. It took a couple of attempts before it was correct but its working now.
