Vintage Sho-Bud Maverick Repair

I recently "refreshed" an old Sho-Bud Maverick. I've refinished it (came out pretty nice, I think) and am now ready to reinstall the rods. I think I'm going to need some help with this. I'd like to know who I might ship this guitar to in order to have it set up properly.

Also, I'd sure be happy if someone could let me know which knee/pedal raises/lowers which strings and from what note to what note. As you can tell, the PSG is not my primary instrument, but I LOVE them! Thanks in advance...

Well Bob did ask me but the most honest thing that I could tell him, ; is that I've never worked on a student model, so I just don't have any experience with them.
It doesn't look very complicated but you know it's a system underneath that I've never touched or even know the parts(they're not like any pro model)that belong to it so he's got to find someone better than that....ha..lol, but they can't I can figure anything out.

Yeah Jim I told him that just now in an email.
If he can't find anyone that has actually worked on one, then send it to me, I'll set it up,and make it play Perfect, I could figure it out.

Thanks, Ricky. I've ordered (today, at Mike's suggestion) a set of the plastic rod clips. There's not a lot more under there to go wrong...go wrong...go wrong! Mike at PSGPARTS.COM has been a big help in this project as well. I know the Maverick isn't much of a steel, but it looked like a good place to begin! One more question... should I change the pickup to a more modern unit, or leave the stock unit alone?

Save your money on the pickup, until when you get a pro model then you can put a good pick up like a wildepickup 710 in there. right now that pickup should be fine.

Ricky, The Maverick is on its way. I included the little plastic clips which are new. The old ones are fine, but Michael at PSG Parts suggested that I replace them. I have no idea how much your charge for something like this, so just let me know what to send. I'll also see that the forum gets a donation as well. Thanks again!!

Bob, you made a wise choice in having Ricky give your Sho~Bud a tune up. I had him do a through set up on the mechanics on my SD 10 Sho~Bud and its excellent to play. It's like a brand new 1975 Bud. Enjoy your steel.

The only slightly different thing about the Maverick is that the 5th string pull on the A pedal connects the A pedal to the C pedal 5th string pull so that there is only 1 wire/rod from the changer to the C pedal- not directly to the A pedal. There are no pedal stops in that the stop is the changer finger hitting the body hence the occasional broken changer finger.

Ricky, I got the Maverick back today and it is AMAZING!! Thanks SOOOOO much for your help in "restoring" this wonderful guitar!! With Jim's comments above, I now understand why it had a "broken finger". I managed to score a Carter Starter in the last few days and I'm looking forward to working with the 3/4 setup! Does anyone know where I can find the "rope" decal used on the Sho-Buds? I'd love to add that to the Maverick to increase the stock appearance! Thanks to everyone for their helpful comments and a SPECIAL THANK YOU to Ricky Davis for his help in getting this old Maverick back up on it's feet!!
