Today I received a Goodrich Baby Bloomer effects pedal and installed it at the end of the effects chain as advised. The device produces an astonishingly open tone that is also clean, clear and (depending on the settings) bright and razor-sharp. Absolutely wonderful. Highly recommended.

I did, however, detect a soft, high-pitched background hiss. Turning down the treble on my Kanata 50 suppresses the hiss to some degree, but with an unwanted loss of treble tone, of course.

I use a TrueTone 9V power supply, but when that line power is shut off, the internal 9V battery keeps the unit powered on until the on-off button on the BB is pressed. When I removed the battery (and used only the line power), the hiss vanished! Can someone explain this phenomenon? Is it a common occurrence?

We are going fix this issue, but if the Bloomer is going to reside on a pedal board, take the battery out. We highly recommend using an external power supply for the pedal. Batteries will last 20 hours.

I just got a Baby Bloomer too. It also has a hiss and taking out the battery made no difference. Any other ideas?

Thanks guys for bringing this problem and fix as a subject. I just built a Trinity TC-15 amp (EF86/12AX7's/EL 84's). It had a nasty buzz when I plugged my pedalboard with the Bloomer last in the chain into pretty much all my amps but particularly my newly built amp. I was at a loss where the extra hiss was coming from. I removed the 9 volt battery from my Baby Bloomer and presto chango the hiss was greatly reduced.
