Could a person go too a 26 inch scale?

Excel has a 25.5 scale available.

I have been using the tuning tuned down to C13 on my 25.5 inch Excel with great success.

Yes I do. I was able to use long scale C6 gauges as a reference.

I've been playing D6th on a 24.5" scale, keyless. It has many of the same strings and pulls as D13th. It works well. Strings: https://steelguitarshopper.com/d-pedal-steel/

I’ll see if I can get anything recorded during this weekends’ shows for ya. Something you could compare it to is Sneaky Pete’s tuning, as he played B6 on a 25.5 inch fender, but still had the E9 A pedal sound (along with a lot more). Also, there probably isn’t much need to go with a long scale, since a standard 24.25 scale handles C6 just fine, and C13 falls within the same range. I just happen to really like long scale and it’s what I have.

I have been playing with this copedent for at least 3 weeks now and really enjoy it. I have had no difficulty moving up a few frets in the high register to compensate, and haven’t noticed much negative effect on tone up there. That was my only concern with going so low.

If your going to be tuning DOWN, my thoughts are that since the longer scale affords more string tension, you will have a tighter,punchier, more pronounced, tone....Just a thought ....Jim

Try this and just switch from ABC to CBA and switch LKL and LKR.
