In the $129 price range of the Boss, I would instead recommend the Turbo Tuner ST-300 or ST-300 Mini. You can put it in-line with the signal path since it's true bypass, and it has lots of options for chromatic or sweetened tuning presets, offsets from 440 Hz, etc. I've used it for lap steel as well as regular guitar for years and have been very pleased. https://www.turbo-tuner.com/

Any tuner will work if you know how to tune a steel.
Peterson is the preferred tuner.
