Types of External HD Enclosures?

Post by James Quillian »

What type of HD enclosure would work with an older Hard Drive, PC 3.5"?

They used to make enclosures with connections for all drives. What search term would apply to those? I can't find any like that on Ebay.

Thanks

James

First you need to know what interface the drive is. Real old ones are PATA (IDE). Most made in the last 10 years are SATA.

You need a (self powered) USB enclosure for the type you have.

Check this link to determine which you have

www.newegg.com is a good site for enclosures.
Here is an example of a SATA enclosure

GFI Ultra Keyless S-10 with pad (Black of course) TB202 amp, Hilton VP, Steelers Choice sidekick seat, SIT Strings (all for sale as package)

Here is a newer version of the one I have. It supports both IDE and SATA. Mine works great.
