I've known Tommy White for many, many years. He never ceases to amaze me with his awesome playing talent. I just don't see him in person nearly enough...

Tommy plays at a level that very few could ever aspire to. 'Touch', 'tone', 'dexterity'? Overused words, I know, but they have special meaning where Tommy's concerned. His playing speaks to me in terms of endless application to his craft, literally countless hours of seat-time but, above all, it's his sheer musicality that puts him right at the top.

Yes, I'd say he was a 'hot-shot steel player' - in fact, he's the poster-child for 'hot-shot steel players' but, somehow, that phrase just doesn't gibe with his unassuming and genial nature.

Tommy White is my favourite player.
