Out Of The Country #12 - "Night Flight"

Post by Joe Goldmark »

Here's the opening track from my most recent album "Blue Steel." I love the "Booker T" styled organ solo that Tony Lufrano plays!

Thanks for listening

Hey Joe! The "ET" emblazoned on your jacket... Earnest Tubbs maybe?

I am still working on your great rendition of Brian Wilson's "Bells of Madness." That selection, like so many of the other songs you have recorded shows what can be done when the PSG goes outside of its typical "pigeon-holed" mold. Great stuff!
blah, blah, blah.
Hey You Kids! Get Off My Lawn!
blah, blah, blah.

Thanks Dan. Yeah, I think there's many songs that aren't "both kinds of music" (to quote the Blues Brothers), that work well as steel instrumentals. Any tune in any genre with a great melody is a candidate.

Yes, you're right about the jacket. Here's what I wrote in the liner notes for the album. "In the 1990's, my band "Mental Revenge" bought a number of Texas Troubadour shirts and outfits from the late great steeler, Buddy Charleton. My jacket on the cover is from that collection." I wear it with reverence.
