Well the first "Pro~II" was basically exactly like "The Professional" with the big body round front; wide pedals; curved knees; infinate raise/lower single raise/single lower fingers; but the Pro~II pulled the barrels with round crossbars and two hole pullers; as opposed to the racks that the Professional pulled.
Then came "The Pro~II" which was basically just like the "Pro~II" but featured the double raise/single lower fingers that had fixed rods on the pullers and nylon tuners to tune at the finger. Then came "The Pro~II Custom" which featured a little smaller body with square front and double raise/double lower(although there were some with just double raise/single lower)(and then quickly into triple raise/double lower); and narrow pedals(slick on top) and raised fretboard; but still had big headstock and round crossbars with two hole pullers.
Then when the superpro came out; the Pro-II custom took on the same mechanics as the superpro(always triple raise/double lower); with straight knee levers and square crossbars; and all the pot metal casting mechanics just like the superpro; even narrow pedals with tred-cut on top.
There were many lap-overs from all the different mechanics from one to the next; as some newer ideas were being implicated on some sho-bud's eventhough some sho-bud's were still being built with older ideas and so on....as why it really hard to say this is this year and this was that year.
So that really is kinda it in a nutshell; as there are actually many more mechanical details that interchanged here and there through the years; but that gets even more complicated; and I can fill you in on those more if you need....but you would have to ask certain specific questions as you understand more of the actuality of what your looking at.
Hope that helps some; Bobby?

Yes, thanks Ricky, that's good info.

To everyone, has the subject of the Pro-I evolution been covered somewhere here? I'd search but it can sometimes take a while to comb through all the posts.

If anyone knows of a thread and can link it or provide a title or some cool search terms i'd appreciate it.

thanks.
