Depends on your preferences...and honestly, which string set you get! The John Pearse set has a light one, .062 for the C13 set (called a C6 set, but its to Alan Akaka's spec and its basically for C13). It seems like it'd be a bit light, but it works...its on my Magnatone. Todd Clinesmith set up my frypan with a .070...also works just fine. I think I would lean towards 68/70 because I like the tight clarity it affords...as long as your nut is appropriately cut...if your nut is expecting a gradual increase of gauge from high to low, strings 1-7 will be basically right in line, but the big jump is on the 8 string which is much larger. On a fixed steel nut like on a stringmaster, the bass string can actually ride up pretty high, resulting in the bar not laying even and requiring more downward pressure by the nut...in that situation I'd go a bit lighter gauge. If you can easily adjust the nut, go for something heavier I think. _________________ Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling
