Hi Robert,

Do you want to record the output from your steel or the sound coming from your amplifier? For both it is better to use an audio interface. But if you want to record the sound coming from your amplifier you will need a microphone and microphone cable in addition to an audio interface.

Does your computer use Microsoft Windows or Apple's Mac operating system? Some audio interfaces only work with one computer operating system.

What is the maximum you want to spend for an audio interface? New equipment prices can range from less than $50 US to thousands of dollars.

The answer to these questions will help forum members advise you.

Finally, you may also want to post your question in the forum Recording section here to receive more views and advice: https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewforum.php?f=22

you will get far more info over in the PG BIAB forums

https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthrea ... b=cfrm&c=2

Also try a google search "Recording LIVE with BIAB " You will get many "hits"

Its more typical to export BIAB tracks to another program such as a DAW or a "standalone" recorder and track your guitar , Steel or vocal over in that world on separate tracks. But there are many on the BIAB forums that do exactly as you are requesting using the BIAB Mixer and Realband. I'm not one of them ! :D

You may want to look at the PreSonus AudioBox USB 96. It includes two five pin midi in and out ports, two audio preamps, is +48 volts phantom power capable, USB 2.0 computer connection, 1/4" headphone jack and retails for less than $100 US. https://www.presonus.com/products/AudioBox-USB-96

The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Generation is another solid performer. It retails for about $150 - $200 US.

I feel comfortable suggesting both of these devices.[/url]

Ken,

You may want to try logging onto the PG Music website again.

A few people in the PG Music forum have complained about the PG Music website being slow. That causes it to be difficult to log-in to the forum or to your online account.

I'm answering your post above and responding to your last post here: https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=364345

Three reasons come to mind.

PG Music may have received a bad lot of hard drives or external cases from their supplier so they have nothing to ship right now. They can't ship if they don't have the parts onhand.

PG Music may be receiving more orders than they expected and are that far behind in fulfilling orders.

Shipping companies have slowed down picking up shipments as they concentrate on clearing out and delivering what they already have in the pipeline.

Ken,

I'm glad to read you received your replacement hard drive from PG Music.

Band-in-a-Box for Windows includes RealBand. RealBand is a DAW that can use Band-in-a-Box song files and RealTracks.

If you're not going to be using midi Audacity is a good choice: https://www.audacityteam.org/. Audacity is free and easy to use.

If you use both midi and audio tracks Cakewalk by BandLab, or CbB for short, is free. https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk
