Another SPARK amp test/sample

Post by Ron Hogan »

I've been working more with the SPARK practice amp on the tone. Using my MSA Studio Pro and the spark with a ZOOM recorder. IMO it's getting darn good sound and could be used for recording tracks. Give a listen and a pro/con.

Ron...

What you've been able to get out of it is amazing. If you're willing to share, I'd love to try to dial in your settings.

The amp sounds great. Who makes the spark amp and who handles them. Looks like a good amp to have.

I tried the website and got absolutely nowhere. I would like to know where to buy one and what the cost is. It looks like it would be relatively lightweight and much easier to carry around than my MV 400.

Ron (or anyone), do you know if you can delete a sound you added to the cloud? I was messing around and added one that I’m not happy with, thinking I could delete it.
Thanks,
Nick
Edit: I read that you cannot change or delete sounds uploaded to cloud so make sure you’re happy with the tones before uploading them.

Sounds great going direct. How does it sound with the speaker? Could you use the Spark as a preamp into a powered speaker?

I've tried the Positive Grid website several times. I can't get past the first page. I can't get to a place where it says Add To Cart. Would love to buy one, but can't get anywhere with the web site. Frustrating!

The Positive Grid Spark was just on sale for BF/CM for $229, I nearly bought one because my Line 6 board requires high impedance headphones to sound good. You could probably find the deal on the Spark extended somewhere like Amazon https://amzn.to/3od6NGb

spark amp

Post by Richard Stoops »

This sample sounds great, as did the previous ones. I bought a Spark amp, but can't get it to sound like your examples. Apparently I haven't found the proper settings yet. Mine sounds thin and tinny. Also is there any way to connect the amp to an external speaker

Sounds great, just pulled the trigger and ordered one a few days ago. Our lead guitar player brought one to rehearsal last week and it sounded fantastic with his Tele.

Go on the cloud and search steel guitar. It will take you to my setting. But you’ll still have to tweak. The head phone Jack out sounds different compared to using the speakers. But my setting will get you close. Then tweak away.

This sample is with the speakers vs. the last sample I did direct. Short C6 sequence.

Ron, the sound of that Spark amp is totally amazing, you sound so professional and it's only a practice amp. The reverb is awesome!!!!

Is it possible you can take a photo of your amp settings and post it on the Forum.

Also, what's the difference between the Spark & Peavey 112?

This works well for me, acoustic amp and tweak the reverb, tiny bit of delay.

Looking forward to getting mine by next week. Will go with Ron’s suggestion for steel. In addition, will try my fiddle, banjo 👹, and Taylor 414ce-R acoustic through it...sounds promising. Thanks again Ron for posting your videos...Carl
